TEMPERANCE
Classic medieval representation of the virtue of Temperance: a female figure that pours a liquid from one vase to another.
In the Tarot, Temperance is represented by a winged woman, standing, in the process of pouring a liquid, probably the water of life, between two cups or pitchers.
Meaning in the Tarot
The card of Temperance calls for moderation.
As in the past, wine was diluted with water; likewise, excesses should be avoided in life.
We must seek moderation, self-control, and we must relax.
It may also mean: a balanced approach is being taken in a certain situation; the right balance must be maintained.
Reversed Card
Lack of moderation, excesses.
A situation is not being approached with the right balance; the wrong attitude is being manifested.
