Justice bears a sword in one hand and scales in the other.

The sword symbolizes the Justice that men mete out, while the scales refer instead to natural justice.

One reference, according to some, is to Osiris, who according to legend would weigh the heart of the dead to decide the destiny of their souls.

In the Tarot, Justice is seated on a throne and gazes straight ahead, emotionless.

There are two columns, one on each side of Justice, or the back of the throne has the shape of two columns.
